Description: The mission of the Van Buren Conservation District (VBCD) is to promote the conservation of natural resources through partnership by providing public education, demonstrations, and technical assistance while working together for future generations. The VBCD partners with the Van Buren County on the County Resource Recovery Program and provides educational information to local residents on recycling opportunities and proper solid waste management. Since its first recycling bin was placed in 1991, Midwest Recycling has kept more than 70 million pounds of clothing, household textiles, and shoes out of local waste streams, placing them in the hands of persons in need. Midwest Recycling has approximately 5,000 donations bins located throughout Michigan and parts of Ohio.
