Description: American Waste is a privately-owned and operated family business, founded by Edward Ascione Sr. in 1971, and established as American Waste by his sons Eddie and Michael Ascione in 2002. We have 10 locations and 400 employees in Michigan. We operate two Material Recovery Facilities: • Traverse City single stream residential and business MRF, operational since 2011 • Kalkaska construction and demolition MRF, operational since 2008 We offer curbside recycling in Grand Traverse County, and operate 50 drop off recycling centers throughout Northern Michigan. Our Traverse City MRF processes recycled materials from 19 Michigan counties: Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee and Wexford counties in our surrounding area, and also Bay, Clare, Crawford, Genesee, Ingham, Mason, Oscoda, Otsego and Roscommon. We recycle up to 115 tons of material a day, and ship out 120 semi loads per month full of steel, aluminum, OCC, mixed paper, office paper, natural HDPE, colored HDPE, PET, and mixed plastics. 99% of the materials we receive are recycled or reused.
