Description: The Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District was formed in 1993 to inspire and assist residents and businesses within the county to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and properly dispose of solid waste. The District offers accessible and convenient recycling to county residents in the Drive-Thru Recycling Center open 37 hours each week and 14 drop-off locations available 24/7. The Drive-Thru accepts tires, non-alkaline batteries, appliances, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil and electronics and more. Household chemicals and other hazardous wastes are collected in the Drive-Thru as well. Creation Station, the first reuse program of its kind in southeastern Indiana, is a clearinghouse for materials that are made available to any Dearborn County teacher or not-for-profit educator.The District offers free educational programs to youth and adults, schools, community organizations and individuals on a variety of topics.

Items accepted for recycling include: Glass bottles sorted by color, rinsed, lids removed Accepting All Plastics: all plastics #1 through #5 and #7. No number #6 - Sorry No Styrofoam. Newspaper and inserts, loose or bundled Magazines and junk mail Clean corrugated cardboard, no wax coated and please flatten boxes Aluminum cans and clean aluminum foil Rinsed tin cans now go into the scrap metal box Used motor oil and oil filters (5 gallons or less per visit accepted in 1 gallon containers) Household and automotive batteries Latex paint (5 gallons or less per visit) Textiles - Clothes and shoes Yard waste (2 cubic yards per day per resident; under 4 inch diameter and 4 feet long accepted) Scrap metal and appliances--NO COMMERCIAL Sharps (In approved bio-hazard containers in the kiosks.) NO mattresses or box springs are accepted Electronic Equipment is Acceptable at the Recycling Centers as long it can safely go into the Compactor Boxes. Oversized Electronics will need to be brought to the Baseline Landfill for Proper Disposal. No Business generated E-waste accepted. NO furniture except on designated days

Description: Maria, founder of Unlimited Recycling established in 1999, is a “One-Stop-Shop” company specializing in waste disposal management, waste assessments and recycling services for solid, universal, sorted office and organic waste. The high demand and awareness in waste reduction/recycling has given the company an opportunity to expand services into building cleanouts. In addition, they offer equipment rental, including compactors, balers and dumpster roll-off services. Maria is an Alumni member of Stanford Graduate School Of Business of Stanford, CA and a mentor for the Stanford University Hispanic Entrepreneurship Program. She graduated from the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurs Leader Program in Cohort #3, winning Unlimited Recycling, Inc. 1st place in SLELP 2016 video competition. Unlimited Recycling has been recognized by the State of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, and the Macomb Regional PTAC for her determination, efforts and success. In addition, she received excellent ratings from the United States Army for the completion of a 5-year waste and recycling contract. Unlimited Recycling graduated with honors from the SBA 8(a) program in 2012 and is currently a member of MDOT, Wayne County Airport Authority, WEBNC and Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
