Description: The EKU recycling program collects recyclable items known as targeted materials. For example, cardboard, mixed paper, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, Universal Waste Batteries, appliance goods (stoves, microwaves, stainless steel), electronic scrap (computers, wires, cables), most mixed metals (chairs, desks), hard plastics and scrap iron. The Eastern Committee for Responsible Environmental Stewardship (ECRES) identifies and recommends best practices to develop sustainable policies at Eastern, and promotes waste minimization (zero waste) through resource conservation and increased recycling.
