Most of those items can be taken to the Washington County Household Hazardous Waste facility for free or a small charge. Washington County can be reached at (479) 444-1725. It is illegal to drop-off items other than the recyclable materials collected on site. There is a $1000 fine for illegally dropping unauthorized items at the site.

Description: The Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council is a nonprofit committed to electronic scrap reduction by providing recycled computers and equipment to schools, nonprofits, and low-income families through the generous contributions of supporters. The nonprofit safely manages and recycles electronics according to international level standards set by the Responsible Recycling Practices program. This title was achieved after nine months of adhering to industry standards set by the R2 program, which includes data security safeguards. R2 is one of only two accredited certification standards that exist for electronics recyclers, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website. The CACRC is the only organization is Louisiana that implements a rigorous "Reuse, Recover, and Dispose" material management strategy by following downstream material until the end of life product.
