Description: The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) has various endeavors, one being the implementation of the Genesee County Solid Waste Plan. Through this plan, GCMPC is responsible for promoting County-wide recycling programs, organizing recycling related events for county residents, and other initiatives. To support objectives included in the Solid Waste Plan, GCMPC holds Recycle Day events where residents may bring various hard-to-recycle items such as household hazardous waste, paint, and electronics. See www.gcmpc.org/recycle-day/ for more information regarding event locations and items accepted/not accepted. In partnership with Genesee County Habitat for Humanity, GCMPC has a FREE Latex Paint Recycling Program. Residents may drop-off leftover latex paint at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore located at 101 Burton Street, Flint, MI 48503 to be recycled into new Latex Paint. The ReStore is open Tuesday - Saturday from 9AM - 5PM.

Description: Muskegon County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program Muskegon County Department of Public Works offers a free disposal program to Muskegon County residents for unwanted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) generated in county. Please note that Commercial and Industrial waste is prohibited. The goal of the HHW program is to divert hazardous materials from the landfill in order to protect residents and the environment. Should you possess any of the following materials, the HHW program will dispose of them in a safe and responsible manner. Mercury or mercury containing devices (i.e. Compact Florescent Light bulbs, mercury thermometers or thermostats, etc.) Petroleum products Antifreeze Pesticides Insecticides Herbicides Aerosol cans (containing hazardous materials) Acids (i.e. Batteries, Muriatic Acid)** Bases (i.e. Drain cleaner) Other products with approval **LEAD ACID BATTERIES (i.e. car/boat batteries) are NOT accepted. NOTE: Paint is not accepted. The best way to dispose of paint is to use it up or recycle it! If you’re purchasing paint for a project, consider the area you have to cover and use a paint calculator to ensure you’re not buying too much. If you have leftover (never-frozen) latex paint that you wish to recycle, you can contact Muskegon County Habitat for Humanity ReStore Locations or to Port City Paints/RepcoLite Paints, Inc. or other paint venders that may accepts used paint. As a last resort, if you cannot find a use/recycling outlet for old leftover latex paint, it may be disposed of with your household trash as long as it is dried or solidified by adding kitty litter, (or other drying media) and leaving it open to dry in a well-ventilated area, away from children and animals. Description: Meet Recycle Livingston, the only non-profit recycling drop off center serving the community since 1989. And we are still committed to reducing the flow of solid waste to local landfills today, even expanding our program to include many hard to recycle items such as household batteries, Styrofoam, latex paint, clothing (usable and unusable), shoes, among other things. Since our beginning, we have relied on volunteer support so we can provide our services at a minimal cost and be available to everyone. Many of the items we accept are difficult and expensive to recycle. We recycle VHS/Cassette/DVD/Hard drives/floppy discs for $.30/lb for members, $.50/lb for non-members. We also offer confidential paper shredding available for $.50/lb for members and $.75/lb for non-members. Televisions, computers, and miscellaneous electronics are also recycled here however please call for the pricing schedule as it changes. Latex paint is $3 per gallon and $1 per quart sized or smaller. Many of the other items we accept for recycling have no additional fees other than membership fees or gate fees. Memberships are available for $40/year for regular households and $30/year for persons 62 or older. Or you can choose to pay the $10 gate fee to come and visit our site.
