The Lamoille Regional Solid Waste Management District is mission driven to reduce the quantity and toxicity of the trash being generated and sent to the landfill. Twelve member towns make up the LRSWMD: Belvidere, Cambridge, Craftsbury, Eden, Elmore, Hyde Park, Johnson, Morrisville, Stowe, Waterville, Wolcott, and Worcester.
The LRSWMD operates six transfer stations across the District that are open to the public for trash, recycling, and management of special wastes and are open to the public. CRT's and Televisions with glass tubes, projection type and DPL televisions can not be accepted . Sorry for this inconvenience . Any flat screen televisions are fine as long as the displays are not cracked/damaged. Why, because they have mercury sandwiched between the display layers, and we don't want this getting leaked out. Its not good for the environment

Description:
The City of Columbia Bioreactor Landfill operates using environmentally-sound engineering practices for disposal of solid waste while complying with state and federal regulations. The current disposal cell (Cell 5) is the second cell permitted to operate as a bioreactor, where liquids are added to the waste to accelerate decomposition, waste stabilization, and gas production.
Methane gas generated from the landfill is being converted to electricity at the on-site Bioenergy Plant operated by the Water & Light Department since June 2008.
A small vehicle drop-off is available for customers that want to avoid driving on the landfill. The small vehicle drop-off containers are located immediately after passing the scale house. This drop-off location is intended to improved customer convenience and operational safety since driving onto the landfill could be hazardous for small vehicles.

RECYCLING FEES
Annual membership recommended for households who use our center all their recycling needs. This is a one time fee, good for an entire year.
Regular:$45 Super Recycler: $65
For household recycling without membership: $2 per visit.
Electronic Waste Recycling: Up to $0.25 per pound. (not included with membership or door fee)
Business: Annual membership based on materials to be recycled and quantities. Business membership plans range from $45 to $125 per year. Invoices and receipts can be provided. Please note that we accept cardboard recycling free. We can handle large quantities.
